For more than a century the Cape Jaffa lighthouse stood 8km out on the Margaret Brock Reef, warning passing seafarers of impending danger. The class-1 lens amplifies a 50-watt incandescent light source to become visible at a distance of 40 kilometres. A tribute to the keepers who navigated the treacherous water to the reef and back with their families where they conducted one-week shifts to maintain the lighthouse, and also to those who had the vision to preserve this heritage after the lighthouse was decommissioned and transferred to Kingston in the mid 70's.
